Vefa High School

Firt Public Engagement activity of our project took place in Vefa High School where I graduated in 2002. There were about 40 students in the class and firstly, I gave brief information about Environmental Engineering applications. Then, it was easier to tell about the importance and some preliminary results of our project. They were all interested about the project topic and they asked about the other applications that is done in the concept of zero waste.

A short survey

I delivered a short survey to have an idea whether public know about the recovery of treated wastewater and wastewater sludges (biosolid) as irirgation water and fertilizer, respectively. Some remarkable results;

All of the students know that treated wastewater is used for park irrigation and 95% of students know that treated wastewater is used to irrigate vegetables and fruits.
All of the students accept to use the vegetables that are irrigated with treated wastewater. However, the percentage of the students accepting to use vegetables grown up with biosolids are 85%. And, 80% of the people rejecting to use vegetables grown with biosolid is willing to use these vegetables in the case of reduction in prices.
